Chandler, who was just five weeks old at the time, was left for dead in a public park after his former owner tried to carry out a DIY neutering operation.

Rescuers were shocked...

Rescuers said that large parts of Chandler's internal organs were hanging out of a huge hole in his abdomen, causing the little pup excruciating pain.

Staff at the Detroit Dog Rescue said that it was one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they'd ever seen. And while they give every dog as much love as they can, rescue workers made an even bigger effort to give this poor pup a second chance.

Chandler's road to recovery wasn't easy. But after five weeks of intensive care and snuggles, he started showing signs of improvement.

And then things got even better for the little guy. A few weeks after going up for adoption, the adorable Pitbull found his forever home.

Chandler has even got a big doggy sister to show him what being a pooch is all about.

Chandler gets his happy ending

According to his new owners, Chandler is showing all the signs of developing into a happy dog. He enjoys walkie times and treats, although his favourite thing is annoying his big Doberman sister.

But after everything Chandler has been through, she doesn't mind letting him get away with it!
