Purina’s BetterWithPets competition aims to identify and celebrate enterprises that harness the power of the pet-human bond, and make an effort to transform society for the better.

Run for its second consecutive year in collaboration with Ashoka, Purina's world-renowned prize is a pioneer in the field of social entrepreneurship. This year, the UK charity StreetVet and its Accredited Hostel Scheme has been shortlisted as a finalist after competing against 150 participants!
An incredible project
On the 3rd of June, a winner will be selected out of the 8 total finalists. If successful, StreetVet has the chance to win up to £83,000 - a considerable prize which would help the project to grow. And this would be a particularly welcome prize for a charity whose services are needed more than ever in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Indeed, the StreetVet Accredited Hostel Scheme offers free, accessible veterinary care for pets whose owners are experiencing homelessness. The charity understands the importance of a pet’s companionship – especially in times of hardship – and do everything they can to keep pet and owner together. This is why their Hostel Scheme also provides support for hostel managers and staff to adopt and implement positive pet policies.
Show your support!
Purina's main goal with this competiton is to bring support and awareness towards innovators who help humans and animals alike, by enhancing their health and wellness, promoting the importance of the pet/owner bond, and re-imagining the role of pets in society, to name a few. StreetVet certainly incorporates all these ideas.
Mary Sharrock, Purina’s External Relations Director says: “The work StreetVet do is simply amazing and I’m delighted they’ve made the shortlist.”
We could not agree more, and we hope that StreetVet gets the recognition it so deserves! Watch the finalists’ online pitch and discover the winner in real time by watching Purina’s BetterWithPets Prize Youtube Live on June 3rd!
