The poor pup was stolen off the street to be slaughtered for meat to supply restaurants as part of Thailand’s illegal dog meat trade. He was crammed into a cage along with hundreds of other dogs and loaded onto a truck headed for restaurants in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Fortunately, the truck was stopped by Soi Dog Foundation, an animal welfare charity. Miracle and the other dogs were taken to safety and it was from here that his life would change for the better.
Amanda Leask already owned more than 40 dogs, but when she read about Miracle’s story, she was determined to track him down and have him flown to her home in Edinburgh.
Miracle the magician
With Amanda’s help, Miracle was able to get back on his paws again. He quickly became an important member of the family, bonding with her son Kyle, who has cerebral palsy and autism.
Amanda decided to enter him into the talent show to perform magic tricks. But it was sharing his story with the panel of judges that won everyone's hearts.
The judges who are all animal lovers were moved to tears by Miracle’s ‘tail’ with head judge Simon Cowell saying that the dog meat trade must be stopped.
