We know dogs are smart: they sit, they stay, they even go and fetch the paper. But, this super hero is here to remind us that tricks are only the tip of the iceberg.

In the early hours of March 3rd, Eric Johnson was fast asleep at home with his family when his Australian Shepherd dog, Bella woke him up.
Bella was pacing, whining and generally behaving erratically and Eric had a feeling that something must be up. Trusting his hunches and knowing his dog, he got out of bed and checked the news.
He was horrified to learn that a huge tornado was headed straight for the house.
Eric woke his wife and children and together the family hid in the bath (thought to be a safe space in the event of a tornado) while loyal Bella hid under the bed.
The tornado was worse than expected and Eric's house was destroyed but thanks to the actions of Bella, his family was safe.
A missing superhero
The heartbreak continued though as Bella was thrown into the yard. Eric saw that she’d survived but was unable to locate her when things had calmed down.
The family began a frantic search to find Bella. They placed items of her clothing and toys around the town, they set up cameras, but despite various sightings, couldn’t manage to locate her.
A happy ending
54 days later and with the help of a local dog tracker, Bella was finally found safe and well.
The family lost their home and Eric and his wife suffered serious injuries but they’re just so grateful that the whole family is back together.
Well done Bella!
