When Sandra posted a photo of her dog on the Internet, she never would've imagined the incredible reaction it provoked from people all over the world.

Sandra's dog Piper is not like other dogs.

He's a Xoloitzcuintle, or, in other words, a Mexican Hairless dog.

Is that a real dog?

The most defining feature of this ancient breed is, of course, their lack of fur! So needless to say, despite its absolutely striking features, this pooch doesn’t look like your average canine. Boasting a smooth black skin all over his body, Piper leaves no-one indifferent. In fact, when Sandra first posted the photo, most people thought Piper was actually a statue!

Though the photo instantly racked up likes, Sandra also got hundreds of messages and comments asking her whether her dog was real!

So Sandra finally gave the people what they wanted: answers! Though Piper does not look like a dog, inside, he is just like any average pooch. He loves to play, occasionally get away with some mischief, and, most of all, cuddle!

Piper’s is living proof that you can’t judge a book by its cover!
