Coronavirus social distancing meant weatherman Jeff Lyons has had to work from home only for his live broadcasts to be completely upstaged by his cat.

While Jeff may have been a chief Meteorologist at WFIE-TV 14News for the last 34 years, since Coronavirus isolation, he now has to share his screen time with Betty the cat.
Betty the weather cat
The veteran weatherman knows all too well that many of his viewers are now more interested in Betty than what Jeff has to say.
‘You’re tuning in to watch the cat, I realise that, but it’s going to be cold tonight,’ Jeff says in one of his broadcasts.
Betty often hangs around when Jeff is working on his weather forecast from his dining room. So, when she wandered in one evening while he was live on air, Jeff thought nothing of picking her up and introducing her to viewers. Betty’s appearance on Jeff’s broadcasts has attracted viewers from all around the world as people enjoy having a furry distraction.
Purrfect TV star
As Jeff often holds Betty in his arms during his forecasts, he believes that Betty brings some light relief to what has been a worrying time for most people. He also knows that as social distancing means people can’t get outside anyway, they are more interested in watching Betty than knowing what’s going on outside.
So, Betty is now viral on the Internet ! I've had a lot of requests for the video, so here is the behind-the-scenes (thanks to Jackie Monroe at the studio) and then what went over the air. As you can see, Betty needs to be limbered up before showtime ! What should our next stunt be ?Posted by Jeff Lyons on Monday, April 13, 2020
Jeff is all too happy to include Betty in his broadcasts, especially if it makes his viewers smile during challenging times.
