Holland’s story is a tragic one, but with a very happy ending!
A second chance
Holland was abandoned at a Chicago animal shelter a few years back. It was clear that she had been severely neglected. Not only was she malnourished, but she was also completely covered in matted fur.
The Trio Animal Foundation stepped up to the plate and decided to pay for all the sweet girl's medical bills, starting with a much-needed haircut! Indeed, this wasn't your regular trip to the groomer's – poor Holland had to be put under anaesthesia to ensure that she wouldn’t be uncomfortable during the lengthy procedure.
Other than discovering a few bruises and scratches on his skin, the vets were happy to report that the dog didn't have any other underlying health problems.
A major transformation
At first, Holland found it a little difficult to walk without all the weight of her matted fur on her. But with the proper diet, and lots of love from her carers, she soon regained her energy and started to smile…a lot!
Her happy persona soon attracted the attention of adopters, and within weeks, little Holland was off to her forever home…with a huge grin on her face!
