We're all staying in far, far more than we're used to at the moment and the only way through is to make the best of it, which is exactly what James Middleton is doing by holding a dinner party – for his dogs!

Pawfect company!

James shared a series of snaps to Instagram showing his dogs sitting patiently at the table, all wearing matching pink napkins, with huge plates of dog food in front of them.

And, the royal brother went so far as to put flowers, candles and even glasses on the beautifully laid table. He captioned it, “Best dinner party ever” and we couldn't agree more!

The magic of dogs

James has been very open about his struggles with his mental health in a bid to open the conversation up for other young men who are also struggling and he credits his dogs as helping him through his recovery from clinical depression.

Dog lover James has nine dogs: a Golden Retriever called Mabel, and five black Spaniels called Rafa, Ella, Zulu, Inka and Luna. He claims that when journalists request an interview he says yes on one condition: he can bring one of his dogs along.

As always, our pets will help us through

This isn't an easy time for anybody but by cuddling up to our four-legged friends and finding new ways to be sociable (such as inviting our dogs rather than our friends to a Saturday night dinner party!), we'll all get through.

We hope James enjoyed his dinner party and we're sure the conversation was sparkling!
