Higgins is a favourite of animal lovers.
President of the people…and animals!
Indeed, he never goes anywhere without his two Bernese Mountain Dogs Bród and Síoda, including official events! Whether meeting with the elite or giving important speeches, Higgins is always accompanied by his faithful friends – and they're actually quite good company when you want to make friends! It's impossible for people not to smile when they're around these happy Berners.
Higgins is a true animal enthusiast, and he simply couldn't imagine leaving his dogs home alone while he's on important business. In short, he's the president everyone dreams of having!
Too cute to handle
Most presidents have dogs by their side (in fact, Donald Trump is the first US president in the past century to not have a dog in the White House)…but rare are those who actually make their pooches such an important part of their lives! Go Higgins!
Check out these adorable photos of Bród and Síoda helping their dad with work:

A solid system.

Here's Irish President Michael D. Higgins giving a speech with some assistance from Bród the Bernese Mountain dog. You get the feeling that any pet left on his care would be very well looked after. https://t.co/X15Yk4NLNK pic.twitter.com/IdYzbnbL08
