Blind man’s stolen guide dog is returned by thieves who had a change of heart

Kevin Coachman went blind 4 years ago after he was shot during a car hijacking. But with his German Shepherd Lucca at his side, he was able to regain his independence.

This relief was sadly, short-lived. Only 3 months after arriving in Kevin’s home, the dog was stolen from his backyard while Kevin was getting water for him.
A desperate search
Kevin immediately alerted the Seeing Eye Foundation where Lucca came from, as well as the police, who promised they would do everything in their power to find his beloved German Shepherd.
Kevin also contacted news channels to get the word out that his dog was gone. In a heart-breaking interview, he spoke directly to those who had taken his best friend:
An unexpected twist
After an outpouring of support from well-wishers who heard of Kevin's plight, a teenage boy called the worried pet owner and admitted that his friends had taken Lucca, and that he knew it was wrong. Shortly after, he returned the Shepherd to his rightful owner.
“I'm so glad to have my guide dog back, and my friend, and my eyes!”, Kevin said to abc7 News.
Lucca will now be fitted with a GPS collar just in case this happens again, though we hope it won't! We are so relieved Lucca and Kevin are reunited, and wish them all the best in the future!
