Are you a stay-at-home introvert who doesn't like to interact with people and who hates jolly things in general? Well, Perdita the shelter cat relates.

Perdita is a black and white moggy located at the Mitchell County Animal Rescue in North Carolina. She's got somewhat of a…unique personality.
“She's just a jerk”
Shelter staff knew that if they described her in all seriousness, she would be overlooked by everyone. After all, who would want a cat who doesn't like to cuddle, who doesn't like dogs or children, and who looks like she's judging you all the time? So they decided to go the humour route instead…and it's the best thing they could've ever done for her!
They decided to post a couple pictures of Perdita on their Facebook page, and gave her a roaring review. Calling her “World’s Worst Cat”, the Animal Rescue then made her negative personality traits somehow sound like qualities:
It starts with the bold statement: “Meet Perdita, not for the faint of heart.”
It goes on to list her likes, including “lurking in dark corners”, “staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again”, and “fooling shelter staff into thinking she's sick (vet agrees…she’s just a jerk)”.
Then the post lists her dislikes, and it's pretty relatable for anyone who hates too much cheeriness. They include “Disney movies, Christmas and last but NOT least…HUGS.”
Perdita is a morning person, who knew?
Perdita is not impressed with her new found fame. She is being her spicy self. This video was made this morning. She enjoyed her head scratches and growls at the end to let us know she was done. We love this spirited, strong-willed, beauty. We have given her privacy and quiet as much as possible. We are carefully considering each of the 50+ applications we have received for her. Love and support for Perdita has poured in from all over the world. We are thrilled that so many people are passionate about cats like her. We will keep everyone posted about her adoption when it happens.Posted by Mitchell County Animal Rescue, Inc-North Carolina on Thursday, January 23, 2020
Looking for the perfect match
The animal shelter believes Perdita will catch the eye of an adopter with a similar personality. But, they aren't going to take any chances, so to encourage applicants, they're letting her go for free.
Of course, they're still going to be selective of who they choose for this special lady, and with the dozens of applications that have already come pouring in, they've got plenty of choice.
Good luck Perdita! We hope you find the perfect grumpy owner who understands your grumpy ways!
