A scene from a horror movie, basically. If the doctor hadn't arrived on the scene in time, this dog would've perished in the most horrific circumstances.

As if he didn't save enough precious lives already, Mohammed Awad was in just the right place at the right time when he saved this little dog.

A hero in our midst

Mohammed was coming home from the hospital after a shift and entering the hallway of his building. That’s when he noticed one of his neighbours getting ready to take her dog for a walk. She was clipping the leash onto his collar right outside of the lift – but hadn't noticed that the other end of the leash was still inside of it!

That's when the lift doors closed onto the leash – and the worse case scenario becomes a reality. One of the upstairs neighbours calls the lift, which starts to ascend, taking the leash – and the dog – with it!

The young doctor didn't hesitate a single second to throw himself onto the dog, who was already dangling at the end of his leash, in a desperate attempt to save him.

Mohammed first tried to unclasp the lead, but the tension was so great that it was impossible to do. He then tried to break the lead with sheer force, but again, the tension was too great and the dog remained up in the air.

During all this time, the doctor and owner could hear the little dog strangling himself, trying to gasp for breath but unable to.

Moral of the story

Finally, after several attempts, the doctor was able to snap the lead, and the dog came falling back onto the ground – terrified, but safe. Check out the terrifying video below:

Mohammed hopes that the surveillance video he shared on Facebook will be enough to warn other dog owners of the dangers of leads and lifts. Always keep leads out of the doors' way!
