An American couple planning to jet off from an Italian airport made a shocking decision when they realised they couldn't take their pup on board the flight.

The American tourists were due to take a flight with their family dog out of Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna.
But because the flight would be stopping in Russia, the couple were told they didn’t have the correct papers for their four-year-old pup to be able to fly too.
For most owners, this would leave them in a terrible dilemma. But as dog lovers, most people would expect owners who find themselves in this situation to postpone their flight in order to give them time to organise the correct paperwork. Alternatively, they would look to finding someone to care for the animal while the paperwork is sorted out.
But that’s not what this couple did.
Dumped at airport
Hearing that they wouldn't be able to board the flight with the dog, the couple decided to abandon the pup at the airport instead.
Before getting on their flight, the heartless pair simply left the dog in a corner and headed towards their plane.
Thankfully, the poor dog was soon discovered by airport staff who quickly alerted airport security. The couple were stopped from boarding the plane.
The dog was sent to a shelter where he is being cared for until a new home for her is found.
The shocking story has led to hundreds of people coming forward to adopt the poor pup. However, shelter staff who are caring for the dog are urging people to remember they have many other dogs in desperate need of homes and to not just focus on this one dog because it is a 'purebred' dog.
