When passers-by heard a dog barking from inside a clothes bin, they assumed a poor dog had been dumped. Concerned, they immediately called for help.

The events took place in Schwelm, North Rhine-Westphalia. When passers-by heard what they thought were puppy vocalisations, they tried to find out where it was coming from.
A long rescue mission
They were deeply shocked when they realised the noises were coming from inside of a used clothes bin, and immediately contacted the fire department.
On site, the rescuers opened the container with the help of a few special tools. They then began their frantic search for the trapped puppy. Looking through all the discarded clothes, they hoped they were not too late to save the dog who had probably been abandoned by its owner.
An unexpected find
And when they discovered the source of the barking, they were amazed, to say the least.
Because instead of discovering a living, breathing puppy, they found nothing other than a battery-operated child's toy.
So it was a false alarm, and all parties involved were very relieved.
The firemen were unable to disable the dog on site, so they brought him back to the fire brigade with them. What happened to the dog afterwards remains unknown…
Clothing bins are not trash bins
Often times, the contents of a clothing bin are donated to parties who may be in need of clothes. Clothing bins are however not to be used for dumping home objects that we may no longer need. Always double check what you're putting into the bins to be sure its appropriate!
