Rachel Howatts lives in Ontario, Canada, with a Husky called Koda.
Koda goes walkies
Koda loves to explore the local woodland, but a recent adventure trip lasted a lot longer than usual. In fact, Koda went missing for two whole days!
Rachel spent hours trying to find the pooch but had to give up when night fell. She returned home, confident that Koda would find her way back.
Speaking to The Dodo, Rachel said:
"She is really smart, so I didn't doubt she could find her way home."
And Rachel was right; two days later, Koda turned up at the front door as if nothing had happened!
Rachel was relieved, but she couldn't help wondering what Koda had been up to during the 'surprise' vacation.
She then remembered that a neighbour had a trail camera set up in the woods. Rachel asked if she could see the footage and, sure enough, it showed Koda getting up to all kinds of mischief.
What's more, she wasn't alone!
The pooch had made friends with a male deer! The footage showed Koda and the Buck playing in the woods before curling up for a little nap.
"It was quite something," said Rachel. "Based on the time they spent on the frame, it looked like they spent over 12 hours together. There's also another photo where there are two bucks in the picture with her."
The call of the wild
Koda hasn't gone on any more adventures since, although Rachel thinks it's only a matter of time before she goes looking for her new best friend.
"Huskies have such a free spirit," Howatt said. "It doesn't surprise me at all that Koda was trying to make a new friend."
It looks like Koda just can't resist the call of the wild!
