500 days without a home
Bonita the dog was rescued by shelter workers almost a year and a half ago. As a happy, fun-loving girl, it seemed like she'd be rehomed straight away but you can't predict these things and she was still living in the shelter some 500 days later.
All Bonita really wanted was a home and an owner to call her own and this Christmas her wish finally came true!
A home for Christmas
The moment Bonita finally leaves the shelter with her new owner has been captured in an adorably joyful video. Bonita can be seen walking along a line of shelter employees as they throw confetti to celebrate her new home. The happy dog cannot contain her excitement and she runs and jumps along the line, saying goodbye to her favourite shelter workers as she leaves.
The reaction of the staff is almost as wonderful and shows what a special dog Bonita is.
The video is so adorable that it’s become something of an internet hit and has received thousands of hits and shares on Facebook.
Her new owner, Ray Kinz, is just as delighted as Bonita is and commented on the post,
“Bonita is home and couldn’t be happier! Thank you Niagara County SPCA for taking such good care of her.”
An internet sensation
Bonita has her own Instagram account and her new owner has wasted no time in uploading some adorable pics of the pretty girl in her new home. We see her sitting in the passenger seat of a car, excitedly going on an adventure and another with her happily snuggled up on the sofa.
We love dogs, we love dog owners and we love a heart-warming Christmas miracle. Have a happy life beautiful Bonita.
