Linda Zardain lives in a small Texan town in the USA. She would often see a stray mog prowling around the neighbourhood, so she started leaving out a few treats.

Linda makes a new friend

After a while, little "Calico" started turning up at Linda's house every day. The feral cat would even arch her back for a bit of stroke and scratch. Linda said:

"Although she was originally feral, she was starting to love, and I thought she would make a great pet."

As she spent more time with Calico, Linda noticed the cat had a bit of a belly bump, and it seemed to get bigger by the day. Calico was pregnant!

Linda set up a birthing box for the mum-to-be, but as the big day approached, Calico went missing.

Linda was worried, but she also knew that Calico could take care of herself.

Then, just a few days later, Calico came back to her new home, and she had company!

The proud mum was carrying an adorable kitten, and she headed straight to the birthing box Linda had prepared.

"I was shocked, as nothing like this has ever happened to me," said Linda. "I petted her and the baby."

But that wasn't the only surprise. In fact, four more were on the way!

More new arrivals

Linda was amazed as, one by one, Calico carried the rest of her kittens into the apartment! The furry family were together again, and as safe as could be!

The kittens have now been placed with loving families, but Calico is still with her first-ever cat-mum.

Linda only tried to make friends with one cat, but her single act of kindness led to five kittens finding their forever homes!
