Dog owners will understand just why our canine companions are frequently referred to as ‘man’s best friend'. The bond between dogs and humans can never be underestimated. But it’s not just adults that develop a close bond with pups. As this heartwarming video shows, even little girls as young as two can form an instant bond with a dog that quickly becomes unbreakable.
The story starts when a little two-year-old girl called G and her mum visit a dog rescue shelter. G soon spots a sweet pitbull dog in one of the kennels and points to the hopeful pooch saying “I want that one”.
The poor pitbull dog wasn’t in good condition. “She stunk like mange and had snot running from her nose,” G’s mum says on the video.
"I want that one"
But the little girl wasn’t bothered about that, “Mommy, I want that one” she said.
The little girl asked for the dog to be let out but the dog seemed to panic and didn’t want to go outside. G gently took hold of the dog’s lead and patiently led her outside. The dog seemed reluctant and nervous but slowly followed the little girl out into the garden.
“Melt into G’s hands”
“I watched this fearful dog melt into G’s hands. She would not let my daughter leave her side. Wherever G went, she went,” G’s mum said.
The dog seemed to have found new confidence and looked delighted as she ran around the garden with G.
“G wiped the dog’s runny nose and gooey eyes on her dress. G repeatedly looked at me and said ‘doggy’s sick. Need help.’ G gave the dog hugs, kisses and even belly rubs. G could have cared less how badly this dog looked or smelled.”
G’s mum put the dog back into her kennel and she instantly began to start shaking uncontrollably again.
But G refused to leave her. She said ‘sick doggy, need help. Go home.’”
The little girl got her way. G and her mum took the sweet dog home.
G and her mum have called the dog Scarlett and she has settled in well to her new home. “And she still won’t let G out of her sight,” G’s mum adds.
The wonderfully heartwarming video shows the wonderful relationship between pup and little girl. The pair do everything together, from playing in the garden, relaxing on the bed to even having a shower together.
