A Winter's Tail
Picture the scene: it’s a snowy winter’s night in Ontario, Canada. Temperatures here routinely dip well below freezing and any normal pooch or kitty would be safely curled up next to the fire. Not so though for this ramshackle group.
A bunch of kittens had seemingly been abandoned by the roadside in the middle of winter. As the temperatures plummeted, it seemed that the little kitties were almost certain not to make it through the night. Until, that is, a stray mama dog spotted them and turned canine superhero.

The pup used her body heat to keep them warm and safe. Thankfully, a passerby spotted the dog curled around the kittens to keep them warm and contacted the Pet and Wildlife Rescue Centre.
A timely rescue
The rescuers took the dog and her kittens to safety and have since named the pup Serenity.
The miniature felines are currently being treated for fleas and worms but it seems that quite the bond has been formed and the mama dog regularly visits her little litter.
A shelter spokesperson said,
"It's truly heartwarming! It had been a very cold night so these kittens would have had a very hard time surviving."
Stories like this melt our hearts, you really can’t beat a mama’s love.
We wish the unlikely brood all the very best for the future.
