With severe frostbite and completely frozen ears, the tiny kitty was found wandering alone on the streets of Massachusetts. Thankfully, she was eventually spotted and taken in by The Odd Cat Sanctuary and as you can probably imagine, the little cat was in very poor condition.
After a thorough examination, the veterinarian team determined that even though her ears had been severely affected by frostbite, she could still make a complete recovery and her hearing would not be affected. So far so good, but the next piece of news was not so positive: It seemed she was suffering from agenesis of the eyelids, a condition which means that her eyelids will never close completely.
A long recovery
Shireen's condition was very worrying, but the shelter members knew that with time and love everything would be fine for this lovely little girl.
After a month of love and care from the team, Shireen was much better although her ears were very damaged and her eyelids still didn’t close. The next step was to find her a loving forever home. Unsurprisingly with this lovely, spirited little cat, it didn’t take long!
Owner Bill Coggeshall spotted Shireen on The Odd Cat Sanctuary’s Instagram page, followed her story, and immediately offered to adopt her once she was ready.
A loving home
Not only has Shireen got a new home, she’s also got three cat siblings: Lady Sansa, Lil Becca and Lord Stannis.
Thanks to her temperament, Shireen fit in immediately and knows she never needs to fear being left in the cold ever again.
Have a lovely life little cat.
