When Quilty the cat arrived at the Friends For Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization in Houston, USA, the staff soon realised he was a real character.
This is one smart kitty
The 7-year-old mog was full of life and loved the company of all his new human friends. But Quilty also has a naughty side, and his antics have been keeping everyone at the centre on their toes!
Quilty's favourite game is called the great escape, in which he wriggles out of his room and goes for a wander through the shelter. And because he doesn't like playing alone, Quilty started freeing his cat buddies so they could tag along on his nighttime adventures!
The staff would come into work each morning and find dozens of cats running free around the lobby! After identifying the ringleader, they then 'Quilty-proofed' all the doors, putting an end to this clever kitty's escapades. Or at least for now.
Friends for life shared the story on their Facebook page. One post read:
"Quilty will not be contained. And he has no shame. Quilty loves to let cats out of the senior room. Repeatedly. Apparently, this is not a new skill he learned here at the shelter; he used to let his dog sibling in the house at his old home."
Who can handle a cat like Quilty?
The story soon went viral, and the centre was overwhelmed with offers to offer Quilty a forever home. Jennifer Hopkins is a volunteer at Friends for Life. She said:
"We're pretty floored and excited about the response we've received on Quilty's antics. He's an awesome cat!"
They're currently reviewing applications to make sure they find the perfect owner for Quilty. After all, whoever adopts this little guy is certainly going to have their hands full!
