Mike and Julie Whittingham, along with their cat Lula, were making a life-changing move from Lincolnshire to Cornwall. The van was packed and they were on their way to their new home but stopped for a much-needed rest break at Corley Services.
As the journey was long, they decided it was only fair to allow their beloved Lula out for a little walk.
A heart-breaking tale
Lula, a rescue cat, was used to being in a harness and regularly went for walks on the leash with her owners.
Unfortunately, the little kitty was spooked by a loud noise on her walk and somehow slipped her harness and disappeared into nearby woodland.
The couple spent three hours searching for their cat but had to leave to be at their new property in time to meet the removal lorry.
A helpful friend
Thankfully, Linda Dodimead of Corley Rocks Cattery stepped in to help and has set up a dedicated Facebook page as well as printing posters to display and setting a cat trap in the area.
The couple have returned to Corley to search for their beloved Luna but have been unsuccessful each time.
If you’re in the Warwickshire area then please keep an eye out for little Luna. She’s a tortoise shell cat and is microchipped.
She’s a timid kitty so her owners have asked any potential sightings to contact Lin at Corley Rocks Cattery with her whereabouts rather than attempting to catch her.
We hope that this sad story has a happy ending very soon, and we’ll be sure to let you know when we hear more.
