He was an extremely shy rescue dog and very nervous around people. So when his new owner introduced him to her boyfriend, she didn’t expect what happened next.

Abby Shulte adopted a Pitbull dog called Harvey, who was rescued during Hurricane Harvey.

While Harvey quickly trusted Abby, he was a very shy and nervous dog who was terrified if anyone approached him. The only person he was comfortable to be near was Abby.

Understandably, because of this, Abby had delayed introducing Harvey to her boyfriend of two years, Ethan.

Nervous pitbull

Abby told The Dodo,  “Harvey is terrified of people. When I first had him, he would not let anyone else near him except for me.”

But after a few days of having Harvey home, Abby decided it was time for the two men in her life to finally meet.

As he has always been such a shy and nervous dog, Abby wasn’t sure how the meeting would go, but she did expect Harvey to be reluctant and probably cower in the corner.

Let’s just say, she was more than pleasantly surprised.

Love at first sight?

The second Harvey laid eyes on Ethan, it was pretty much love at first sight and the start of a relationship of their very own.

Abby explained: “Harvey was immediately 100% comfortable with him.”

“It was crazy to see how much they enjoyed each other’s company. I’m not sure why they hit it off so quickly, but I like to think it’s because Harvey is a good judge of character.”

Start of a bromance

Harvey showed no signs of being nervous around Ethan and over the next few weeks, the pair quickly bonded. In fact, Abbey now worries that her dog may prefer her boyfriend to her!

She said: “They are always affectionate. Harvey loves to cuddle and will always cuddle with Ethan. I think my dog now loves him more than he loves me!”

Harvey might still be shy and very nervous around other people, but whenever his best friend Ethan comes over, he jumps around excitedly.

Sealed with a kiss

Abby even caught the pair on video sharing a kiss. The video posted on Abby's Twitter accounthas had an incredible 371.7k likes and was retweeted 113k times.

Loving bond

While Abby is so pleased that her dog and boyfriend get on so well, she does admit that she sometimes feels a little jealous of the bond between the two.

“Sometimes I do feel a bit jealous of how much he loves Ethan,” she said, “but I know Harvey loves me just as much, so I always get over it.”

Abby says that the blossoming relationship between Ethan and Harvey has had a real positive impact on the dog and has encouraged him to feel more confident around other people.
