This week, we’re introducing you to Bella, a young Shar-pei who is just looking for a second chance in life!
Bella is at Battersea’s London location, and can’t wait to meet the family who will give her all the love and care she needs.
Bella’s ideal environment
Bella’s past is a bit of a blur, but what staff members do know is that she is a rather nervous dog. Because of this, she would prefer to live in a quiet location, preferably in the suburbs or even the countryside, and away from the stressful city environment.
She is prepared to share her home with teenagers and maybe even cats, but would prefer to be the only dog in the house.
Because Bella is a wrinkly Shar-Pei, future owners will need to stay on top of a couple of things, including daily eye and skin care. Adopters will need to monitor Bella for any signs of eye diseases, allergies, or skin irritations, which are common problems in the breed.
Future owners with a knowledge of Shar-peis’ stubbornness will do best with Bella! She will need help feeling more confident in everyday life, including being around other dogs. This will require on-going training and socialisation.
Shar-peis are double-coated dogs, so they are bound to seasonally shed heavily. The folds on their faces can sometimes attract bacteria, so regular cleaning is a must. Due to their sensitive skin, they also need routine bathing.
Bella’s sweet and loving personality
Despite her anxiousness, Bella is at the core a very sweet, caring, and loving dog. Shar-peis are known to be a loyal and devoted breed, so we are sure that once Bella has blossomed in her new home, she will make an amazing companion!
