A video capturing the heartwarming friendship between a little Jack Russell and a horse has gone viral, and the story has even inspired a big-screen adaptation.

Spanky the horse always struggled to get on with his own kind. He would often get into fights and had to be kept away from all the other horses. It looked like Spanky was destined to live out a lonely existence.
Dally the Jack Russell never fit in, either. He was the runt of the litter and found himself all alone after his dog mum and siblings rejected him.
The start of a beautiful friendship
But when one animal lover decided to adopt both of these 'rejects,' they soon struck up an unlikely but incredibly heartwarming friendship.
Then one day their new owner saw something amazing. Dally had climbed onto the little horse's back, who seemed more than happy to carry his best friend around the paddock.
She soon realised she had an exceptional pair of animals on her hands and decided to train them to do all kinds of tricks.
This odd couple now tours all over the USA, showing off their skills to adoring audiences. A recent Facebook video of Dally and Spanky exploits received over 300k likes and almost 2miilion shares.
Dally and Spanky hit the big time
Their unusual friendship has even inspired a Hollywood adaptation! The Adventures of Dally & Spanky, released by Sony Entertainment last September, is a movie based on the four-legged duo. After realising their family can't afford to keep Spanky anymore, two sisters work together to train Dally and Spanky for a TV Talent Show.
We haven't seen it yet, but we've got a strong feeling that Spanky and Dally come out on top!
