Earlier this month, Marie Palmgren, owner of Chaya, received a notice in her mailbox telling her that a large package had arrived and needed to be picked up at the post office.
The package in question was sent directly to Chaya as a gift from a family member to the little dog.
Naturally, Marie went to the post office to pick up her parcel. Once there, she asked an employee for advice because she did not know how to complete the document in order to receive the package.
A dog's signature
Marie then explained that the recipient was Chaya, and that the package was intended for her. And to her astonishment, the employee asked for the dog’s signature.
Perplexed, Marie decided to return home and search for Chaya’s papers.
Luckily, she found Chaya's ID which also indicated that Marie was the owner. Confident, she returned to the post office with the documentation and her dog.
Nobody realised that a surprise gift would give them such trouble...
Marie handed all the documents to the post office staff. After 15 minutes, they came back. They told her that they accepted the document as Chaya's ID, but they still needed a signature.
A crazy situation
After waiting around for a while, an employee came back to Marie with a writing pad. The employee asked that the dog leave an imprint of his paw on the pad as a way of signing the document.
Chaya agreed to play along much to the amusement of her owner.
After all this, Chaya and her owner were able to go home with the package and Chaya finally got her toy back. As for Marie, she explained to media outlets that this was not a joke and that the post office staff was very serious throughout the process.
