The owners of this German Shepherd mama definitely got the surprise of their lives when they saw her give birth to her last puppy…who definitely didn’t have the typical GSD look!

Reba the German Shepherd was found as a stray roaming the streets in Valrico. She was taken in by Heidi’s Legacy Dog Rescue and housed in a loving foster home so she could give birth to her oncoming litter in complete peace and quiet.
An exceptional litter
Only 2 days after her arrival in the foster home, Reba gave birth to 6 healthy, golden-coloured pups. But the last puppy is a bit different from the rest. Usually, German Shepherds are black and tan...but this exceptional puppy came out green!
Though rare, green puppies are not unheard of. Indeed, this is the result of the green galenic fluid mixing with the amniotic fluid in the mother’s womb. It is of no danger to the pup and eventually, the coloration goes away.
One special pup!
Due to her original coloration, the little green pup is named Clover. Though she soon looked like all her other siblings, her name will always remind people of her special birth!
Reba is proving to be a wonderful mother, and is making the most of the time she has with her pups until they all find loving forever homes. We wish them all the best!
