Tear-jerking tale of dog who leaves space for pal who died a year ago
If you’re of a teary disposition, then it may be time to look away now. This is the heart-breaking tale of gorgeous shih tzu Harry who still leaves space in his bed for his best canine pal even though he died a year ago.

Owner Caitlin shared two snaps to twitter. One of George sleeping in the middle of the dog bed, with Harry curled up next to it and another, a year on, with Harry still lying to the side of the bed but this time without his pal George.
George found his forever home with Caitlin back in 2004 when he was a year old and puppy Harry joined a few years later. Harry grew up with George, eating, playing and sleeping with his beloved pal but sadly, George’s health took a turn for the worst last year.
I’m full on crying rn...he always let george sleep there and he died almost a year ago and he still lies there? pic.twitter.com/NvV1PaDFfn— caitlin ? (@caitlinwynne2) September 12, 2019
George was diagnosed with kidney failure and his loving family had no choice but to put the beloved pooch down. His owner said,
"I slept on the sofa the night before we had George put to sleep to keep him company and Harry was pacing around the room crying, and wouldn't sleep all night as if he knew something was wrong.”
Little Harry is said to have grieved for weeks at the death of his best pal, refusing treats and keeping his tail down low as if in mourning. For a while owner Caitlin couldn’t understand why Harry always slept to the side of his dog bed until she looked through old pictures of the boys together and realised that that was George’s spot.
Harry NEVER sleeps in his bed now in case George returns.
A truly heart-breaking tale but it sounds like little Harry is getting plenty of love and affection from his owners even though he’ll always miss his best pal.
