Asda launch campaign to find feline face for Christmas TV advert
September is here, and you know what that means! Christmas is just around the corner! Supermarket giant Asda is already on it - having sent out a casting call for the UK's cutest cats, with the winner set to become the adorable face of their X-mas advert.

The feline star will play Mr Grumbles, although everything else about the festive advert remains tightly under wraps.

However, Asda's marketing team are planning to turn Mr Grumbles into the most recognised furry face in the UK. Alongside the TV advert, they're also releasing Mr Grumbles merchandise, including cuddly toys.
Eilidh Macaskill is the Vice President of creative and media at Asda. She said:
“We want to make this Christmas the most extra special Christmas yet, so we’re pulling out all stops to ensure we bring a little magic to screens, with the help of Mr Grumbles.”
The first round of auditions kicked off in Harrogate, Yorkshire, last week, and attracted hundreds of cat owners and their fame-hungry pets.
Filming begins in mid-Septemeber, but there's still time to turn your kitty into a star. If you think your furry friend has got what it takes, send a picture to Asda via Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #MrGrumbles.
Ad directors are keeping an open mind about Mr Grumbles and will consider cats of all shapes, sizes, and colours.
But whatever kind of cat secures the role, there's one thing we know for sure - the lucky kitty will be catapulted into stardom!
Last year, Asda was the first supermarket chain to air their Christmas ad. The advert featured Santa Claus launching flaming Christmas puddings into the air, dancing skiers, and stunt driving Yetis flying through the snow.
An overnight Christmas star
But as impressive as all that was, there's nothing that captures the heart of the British public like a cute little kitty!
It looks like 2019 is going to be a huge year for one lucky cat!
