Dogs have plenty of cute little tricks to grab our attention - a puppy-eyed stare, an adorable whimper, or jumping on your lap for a snuggle - but this pooch has come up with an entirely new way of getting what it wants!

By Ashley Murphy , 30 Aug 2019

The stray pooch was filmed duping passers-by in Bangkok, Thailand. Known as Gae by the locals, the super-smart canine falls to the floor then drags both back legs behind her as if she's just been in an accident.

Ha! Got you this time!

But when an unsuspecting person comes to help,  the 'injured' pooch suddenly leaps up onto all fours. The video shows her then looking right into the camera with a naughty expression that seems to say, 'Ha! Got you! Now let's play.'

Thaweeporn Chongplapolkulsaid is a local resident who has watched Gae develop her attention-grabbing routine over the years. He said:

"This old dog has lived by my workplace for a few years. She always does this trick to deceive people. I feed her rice but she still has this habit. She's very smart. I think she does it to get people to feed her."

''While we stopped to watch her that day, a motorcyclist stops because he thinks the dog is hurt. But then she jumps up and walks away. It's too funny.''

Stray dogs are a common sight in Bangkok and Thaweeporn has helped rescue and rehome hundreds. Still, he's sure there's absolutely nothing wrong with Gae. He continued:

"We've checked both of her legs. They are both fine. If Gae had any kind of injury, I would take her to the vets immediately."

The trickster dog goes viral

So it looks like Gae is doing it all for the giggles, a few strokes, and some tasty treats. And the routine has certainly done the trick. The video has almost 15K views of Youtube. Check it out for yourself!
