So much drama in UK politics lately! With Britain leaving the EU and Theresa May stepping down from her position as Prime Minister, things are certainly changing on Downing Street!

One element remains the same though: Larry the cat! Since 2011, the ‘Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office’, has, you guessed it, been chasing mice and rats away from the Prime Minister’s official residence.

Busy Mouser

Much like the Queen, Larry has had to work with many a Prime Minister, including David Cameron and Theresa May. He even meets with foreign political figures, like Donald Trump, and doesn’t hesitate to make his political views known!

And soon, the adorable Downing Street resident will be working with Boris Johnson. Yep! If everything goes according to plan, Larry will be sharing his home with the “Leave” campaign spokesman.

According to protocol, the ex-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs will have to meet with Queen Elisabeth II in order to plan a new government with her. But for now, he remains the Conservative party leader, and has not yet moved to Downing Street. Theresa May must officially offer her resignation to the Queen and wrap up her projects first.

The new British Prime Minister doesn’t own any other pets, but he will surely enjoy Larry’s company, and definitely appreciate his work!

In any case, we wish them a happy and harmonious cohabitation.
