Stories of beloved pets passing always hits home, because we know what it’s like to love an animal unconditionally. This is even more so when we know the animal in question. Though Stewart was only known to us through his TV character Cheddar, it still feels like we’re losing a good friend.

Hollywood Star

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American comedy TV show which portrays the everyday lives of a Police squad in New York City. Cheddar the Corgi is the Captain’s ‘cute secret weapon’ – a highly intelligent and superbly well-trained dog who is always at the ready to help the Captain in his missions (professional or otherwise).

Cheddar aided Captain Holt in winning a competition in a famous Halloween episode, and even played the ring-bearer for two of his co-stars on the show.

The dog was played by several pooch actors throughout the years, but Stewart served it the longest, and was the best known by Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans.

Crossing over the rainbow bridge

Broken-hearted, his owner payed respects to him in an emotional tribute:

“My precious boy Stewart crossed the rainbow bridge today. We went to the beach (his favourite place) where he frolicked in the surf and then enjoyed a picnic lunch of In & Out Burgers. We relaxed in the sun and just enjoyed each other’s company. Our veterinarian met us there later and Stewart went to sleep peacefully in my arms while listening to the sounds of the ocean. He was a one in a million kind of dog, he was my supaah staah.”
