Cat and Disney lovers alike, you’re gonna love this uplifting story - trust us!
It all started with Duchess the stray
Shelby Sewell-Lopez, who lives in East Texas, adopted snow-white Duchess back in 2018. Duchess hadn’t had the best start in life; she was skinny, her hair was falling out, she had a hernia and countless parasites. But despite it all, she was totally calm and collected - a true princess!
Speaking to Bored Panda, Shelby said, “Through all of the rehabilitating, she kept her calm demeanour and a beautiful cat emerged. She is unbothered by everything except the vacuum cleaner!”
And then the Aristocats arrived!
Not long after, Shelby found Duchess nestled away in a cupboard with something that looked like a mouse. But upon closer inspection, Shelby realised it was actually a newborn kitten - with two more arriving shortly after. Quite a surprise, to say the least!
And as they grew a little bit older, it suddenly clicked in Shelby’s head - the kittens were strikingly similar, in both colour and gender, to the characters of the 1970's Disney film, The Aristocats.
Meet Marie, Toulouse and Berlioz!
Despite her tough start in life, Shelby says that Duchess is an incredible mother and never leaves her babies side.
Shelby has decided to keep all the kittens in her own home, though it did take some time to persuade her husband. Well, who could separate the Aristocats, after all?!
Keep up with Shelby and her Aristocats on their page, Duchess and Kittens.
