Lisa Ryal was in a deep sleep after a long day at work, at her home in Pickens county, Georgia. Suddenly, in the middle of the night, she heard her Rottweiler, Luger, barking hysterically outside her bedroom door.

Though the events took place in 2017, Lisa remembers it as if it were yesterday.
Realising something could be terribly wrong, Lisa headed to her living room, and discovered her home engulfed in flames. She had no idea what had happened while she was asleep, but she had no time to figure it out. She quickly grabbed the extinguisher, but it wasn’t working.
Lisa’s family was away at the time, so she was alone facing the disaster. Well, not completely alone. Thanks to Luger, she had a chance of making it out alive.
A lucky escape
Lisa therefore made the difficult decision to abandon her home, leaving all of her possessions to burn with it in the flames. Whilst trying to safely leave her home, she suffered second-degree burns, but made it out alive along with her faithful Rottie.
“I’m so blessed to be alive. It could’ve been so much worse. If Luger hadn’t made all that noise, I wouldn’t have woken up,” she said.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help the family back on their feet after the terrible incident. Lisa ensured donators that part of the funds collected would go towards getting Luger a fancy and delicious steak dinner.
Although Lisa lost her home and belongings that terrible night, her life was saved thanks to Luger. What a good boy!
