Some of us have sadly seen our beloved four-legged friends pass on, and we all know how heart wrenching it can be. Sometimes, it’s the other way around. We’ve read countless stories about dogs staying by their owners’ side after they’ve passed on. But what about cats? Would they be just as loyal as their canine counterparts?
One for the Oscars
Sparta’s owner decided to put this question to the test. It was evident Sparta would be the star of this video. Of all his owner’s cats, Sparta is definitely the most affectionate and devoted. The 10-year-old Bengal mix, who was adopted in 2007, likes to wrestle, play fetch, and to be held like a baby.
So his owner truly hoped for a strong reaction from his feline friend when he pretended to croak…and needless to say, he was not disappointed!
When his owner fell to the ground, Sparta began to meow frantically. He then approaches his owner, all the while still calling to him. He walks around the ‘dead’ body, sniffing his owner’s hands and face.
Kitty isn’t convinced
This is probably the moment when Sparta understood that this was all a hoax. His face said it all: I mean c’mon? What kind of idiot do you take me for?
Sparta could probably tell his owner was still breathing, and from this information, gathered in conclusion, that he was just being WEIRD.
So, as only a loyal pet would do, he joins in the weirdness with his pal, and lets himself fall to the floor in an epic fake death/nap of his own.
Well played, Sparta, well played.
