The poor little animal had clearly been left to his own devices for far too long. The bottom of his crate was covered in faeces and urine. Obviously, no one had cared for this hairball-like creature for a long time. It was covered in huge, painful, and filthy mats all over its body.
Mats removed, and truth revealed
Once rescuers took the animal back to the shelter and were able to coax it out of its soiled crate, they realised what they were dealing with. It was a tiny little dog.
They had no option than to shave all that matted mess off the poor pooch. And when the neglected coat was all gone, the vets revealed a happy and beautiful 7-lb dog.
A brand new beginning
The pup was named Murphy and instantly became a favourite at the PETA shelter due to his gorgeous smile and happy-go-lucky personality. He was transferred to the Norfolk SPCA within only a week as he was deemed adoptable by the care staff at PETA.
And of course, he won all the hearts there too. In just a few days, little Murphy made a BIG impression on an elderly couple that were looking for a companion to join their little family.
Now, Murphy is living his best life, and leaving all sordid memories of his neglectful past behind him. Just look at that smile! That is one happy dog.
