A family from California suffered devastating losses when a mudslide covered most of their home and garden during the recent terrible storms. Of course, the family had to evacuate the property for their safety, but there was no sign of their two cats, Hugette and Diamond.
Family cats are lost during mudslide
Mum, Noelle Stogoff knew she had to put her children’s safety first, so the family had to abandon their home and leave their pets behind, hoping that they would survive the shocking weather. They hoped to return very soon to search for the lost cats, but when they did, there was no sign of them. Noelle thought the worst: that the cats had probably perished in the dreadful mudslide that surrounded their home.
Renovation continues on the damaged property
It took around a year for repair works to be carried out on their home. The mudslide had caused lots of damage which meant that the Stogoff family, with their 3 children, were forced to relocate. During this time, their cats still didn’t show up. It was only by chance that Noelle was chatting to one of the contractors who was working on her home, when she mentioned her missing cats.
Amazing discovery of lost cat
The contractor told Noelle that he had been feeding a stray cat nearby. Was there a slim chance that this could be one of her lost cats? She followed the guy to his home and was astonished to find Diamond, her pet kitty. To her amazement, the lost cat recognised her after being missing for 475 days.
Of course, Noelle took Diamond home to be reunited with the family. The children couldn’t believe that their lost cat was once again at home with them and enjoying playtimes, after such a long time apart.
The family are still hoping that their other lost cat, Hugette, will also be found.
