Mark Imhof, former businessman, decided to give his life to the dogs! Now a professional groomer, he gives shelter pups the most stylish cuts to help them find homes.

Encouraged by his fiancée, there came a point in Mark’s life when he decided he needed to make a change. Speaking of his fiancée, Imhof told the Dodo: “She didn’t want to see me go for another soulless job, and saw the joy I had when I interacted with our animals.”

My rescue, my inspiration

Indeed, the couple had previously adopted dogs from Susie’s Senior Dogs – and they remembered how dirty their dogs were when they first came home. In fact, one of their dogs (named Sean) was on an ‘unadoptable’ list, due to behaviour issues.

But once Mark got rid of Sean’s matted fur, the dog’s true loving personality started to shine through. That’s what persuaded Mark to go follow a course at the American Academy of Pet Grooming.

He had one goal - to do what staff at his dogs’ previous shelter didn’t have time to do: make pups look fabulous for their future families.

Fabulous fluffers

Unfortunately, a neglected look often disqualifies some adoptable animals from the very start. That’s why Mark provides cleansing baths and fancy cuts to the pups that need it most – and he doesn’t even charge a single penny for it!

With Mark’s help, the dogs truly undergo a complete metamorphosis, making it easier for them to find a forever home.

I have seen such transformations in almost all the dogs and it is so uplifting and I KNOW they will pay that love forward to their future forever homes,” Mark says.

Imhof now has his own dog-walking, pet-sitting, and grooming business. But even though he’s super busy, he still finds time to go and take care of the shelter pups and of his four beloved dogs at home.

Thank you Mark for giving every pup a chance!

Hey Dog Guy, the vets tried, but they need you to finish the job.
