A mother cat and her two adorable kittens started life out in a cold, damp, uncomfortable basement. Thanks to rescuers, they’re finally living the life they deserve - but no one expected what would happen next...

Residents in New York spotted the little feline family struggling in the dark basement of their building. Thankfully, as soon as they noticed the adorable family, they rang a local shelter for help.
Cat loving volunteers welcomed the feline family with open arms
"The basement isn't really a place for the mom and the kittens. I'm glad they are safe now," Jess told Love Meow.
Claudia was absolutely exhausted but clearly loved her family's new home. They’d gone from cold, lifeless basement to a heated cat bed, plenty of food and a loving foster carer - they’d won the kitty lottery!
"Mama Claudia is a sweet pea. She loves attention and craves belly rubs. She is constantly brushing up against me and purring," Jess said.
"She is also a very good mom and protective of her babies. She's still getting used to the noises in the house. Once she realizes her babies are not in danger, she quickly calms down and solicits attention again."
But Claudia had more to offer... and took in a stray kitten!
A couple of weeks later, Jess was asked to take a tiny orphaned kitten into her care. Despite having three cats already, Jess is an animal lover through and through and decided to take the baby in.
"This little girl was found all by herself under a rock in the Bronx. I wasn't really planning on taking in another kitten, but the shelter contacted me since she was only three weeks old and needed multiple feedings a day," Jess explained.
After a few days, Jess decided to introduce the little calico kitten, who she named Lucia, to Claudia. And, guess what? She immediately started to care for the kitten as if it was her own. All four kittens cuddled and played together like one big, happy feline family!
Claudia is an amazing mum and is still caring for all three kittens. We're confident that all four of these sweet felines will find a loving forever soon. Good job, Claudia and Jess!
