Dogs and cats can be friends. A little dog proved this point when he protected his kitten friend until they were rescued.
Some people might say that cats and dogs cannot be friends. However, the story of Morticia and Gomez states the opposite. This story is about a little dog that watched over his kitten until a stadium full of people got empty.
The little dog that is friends with a small kitten
Earlier this week, a person spotted a little dog watching over a small black kitten as they protected themselves between two portable toilets at Hampton Soccer Park, in Hampton, Virginia (United States).
This scenario raised a lot of interest in this person. As a matter of fact, he decided to take this picture and post it on the private social network “Nextdoor”. Thanks to the fame and efficiency of this website, as soon as the picture was online, the rescue was on its way. A few animal lovers decided to help the little dog and his kitten. When they got to the soccer complex, they found the couple just as in the picture.
Gomez was very protective of Morticia
When the rescuers tried to pick them up, Gomez, a 2-year-old Chihuahua, got very territorial. This little dog kept on protecting the tiny kitten. The people that went to rescue them gave declarations on their social media accounts. “Totally bonded … the dog is growling if we get too close so we have notified animal control and are waiting for them. Three of us are monitoring them right now”, they said.
Saver of Souls Pet Rescue finally got them to safety
This odd couple was finally brought to a local shelter and given back to their owners. The director of this shelter, Turkan Ertugrul, told The Dodo that “They looked so scared in the picture it made us take notice. We tend to favor the scared ones because they just don’t understand when you are trying to help”.
The little dog and his kitten are safe and sound in the shelter. They are still waiting for a foster home that will adopt them together because it is very difficult to separate them!
