If you didn’t know, our beloved Queen Elizabeth II is absolutely obsessed with corgis. So, in an ode to her love for these bubbly little pups, The Queen’s Corgi film will come to our screens in spring of 2019 – and it’s set to be a banger!
George VI bought Queen Elizabeth her first pooch way back in the 1930s… and guess what her name was? Susan! In the upcoming film, however, the starring Corgi character is named Rex – and he’s a rather mischievous little pup, to say the least!

Rex’s big adventure
Coming to cinemas next year, The Queen’s Corgi follows troublemaker Rex and his day-to-day royal puppy happenings. And while the Queen herself never actually had a Corgi called Rex, raving royal family fans are sure to enjoy this film, loosely based on the lavish life of Queen Elizabeth’s Corgi family.
The trailer describes leading pooch Rex as a ‘cheeky, super-cute, and mischevious’ chap who’s set to ‘steal the hearts of the nation’ next year. After finding himself separated from the Queen and her corgi family, Rex is set with the ultimate mission of finding his way back to his royal friends. From falling in love to discovering his true identity, the ‘biggest rascal of the royal family’ has quite the adventure on his journey back to Buckingham Palace!
A royal Corgi legacy
Corgis have clearly been a huge part of the British monarch’s life. They’ve been included in royal portraits, incorporated into coins, and sculpted in her statues. Sadly, the Queen’s last Corgi, Willow, died back in April of this year. But we can’t wait to watch the new movie – and we bet the Queen can’t, either!
