Martha: female dog to adopt

  • Martha

Approx 1 year, Female, Size: Medium (spaniel size)

Martha waited 10 whole months to come over to the UK from the Romanian kill-shelter and was very close to her PTS date. She was very likely born in the kill-shelter and has never known the touch of a loving hand or grass beneath her feet until she came to us.

Martha was traumatised by the public shelter and the transport. She hid in fear away from us when she arrived and shook in a corner. A few days has passed and she is still very timid but she will walk from her kennel to the yards on her own. She will also sit in the part of the kennel where she can see you passing by or other dogs coming and going. She looks a little more relaxed than she did in the first set of photos on the left.

Martha needs a very, very patient owner that is willing to take everything at her own pace. This will take a while and there are no timescales for this.

Poor Martha only has half a tail - we unfortunately do not know the reasoning behind this.

Martha has been mixed with other dogs in our care. She is not tolerant of puppies and prefers a larger male. She can be very unsure upon initial greeting but then slowly warms up to them. She has not got the confidence to play at the moment.

As she is so frightened Martha needs a home with kids over the age of 16 years, she is not suitable for younger children.

She is not currently lead trained and is not confident enough to have strokes or any handling at the moment.

She is not suitable to live with cats.
