In South Africa, Community Led Animal Welfare (CLAW) is a highly regarded welfare organization that is acknowledged as a leader in community-based primary veterinary services. CLAW works in areas where the people go through extreme hardship, and don’t get access to any veterinarian care for animals.
Last Friday (9/16), the whole staff was surprised when an unwanted dog was discovered. The pictures show a saved dog with tick fever. The poor dog was covered in over a thousand ticks.
The dog was named Belle and, on their Facebook page, CLAW shared that she is currently on a drip. They’re going to have to wait for the ticks to fall off by themselves. If the ticks are removed manually, Belle would bleed far too much.
The folks who owned Belle will be charged for her condition. CLAW said on Saturday morning (9/17) that her condition has been improving, and she has gotten rid of some of the ticks.
Get well soon, Belle. Don’t forget to share Belle’s story to everyone!
