Dog Can’t Stop Kissing Her Hero who Saved Her from a Huge Problem

Pumpkin was rescued from living on the cold streets, but she recently needed even more help to get out of a terrible situation she was suffering under, literally.

Pumpkin, who is a soon to be mother, was playing in the backyard of her temporary new home at the Hawkins County Humane Society, in Rogersville Tennessee, when she got herself into a bit of a pickle. While her caretakers were taking care of other shelter business, she had managed to crawl into the narrow space beneath a storage shed. Pumpkin tried to shimmy her way out, but she got stuck.

“I open the back door and call for her and her head pops out from underneath!” shelter staffer Kennedy Margetjak told The Dodo. “I know something is wrong because she wouldn’t even come for treats! I walk out and her pregnant self is wedged underneath the shed and is struggling to get out but just can’t.’

Margetjak and other staffers tried to help Pumpkin by giving her a gentle tug, but they weren’t able to free her because of her pregnancy bump.

That’s when the shelter’s handyman, Joey Arnold, came to her rescue.

As shown in the video at the bottom of the page, Arnold used a jack to hoist up the entire shed, allowing Pumpkin to slip out on her own.

Ultimately, Pumpkin was unscathed after the troubling ordeal, and was a tad more affectionate than usual.

The Dodo reports that the shelter has since blocked the bottom of the shed off to prevent a similar mishap from happening again.

Hawkins County Humane Society is hoping to find a forever home or foster family for Pumpkin, so she can deliver her puppies in a much cozier setting. For information on how to help her, or the other adoptable pets under their care, please visit the shelter’s Facebook page.
